American musician and actor Awkwafina began her career with hilarious songs that dealt with sexual identity and race with a boldly comedic perspective before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical path as a trumpeter. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the child of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. Later, she began the classical and hip-hop genres. While in her schooling, she specialized in the field of journalism as well as women's studies. She was also a student of Mandarin during a time in Beijing. Not until after graduation did she start focusing on music. The song My Vag, a response track to the Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity through the Internet in 2012. The track was later included on her debut album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. The album also featured viral hits like the body-positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. The third track was linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide that was published in the year 2015, and was an additional idea. The singer decided to make a career as an actor following the completion of her previous two ventures as a musician and author. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors as well as Storks. In the year 2018, she was offered several notable roles that were a breakthrough, like Dude Ocean's Eight or Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP, In Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
